About Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN)
APAN (Asia-Pacific Advanced Network) is an organization that represents member institutions as well
as a backbone network connecting member countries and regions to each other and to other international
research and education networks.
APAN Ltd. is a non-profit association and a legal entity
established to represent APAN member institutions, which in turn represent research and education
networks in the countries and regions of Asia and Oceania.
APAN coordinates activities related to
network technology, services, and applications among its member institutions and with other international
organizations. APAN is also an important facilitator of network-enabled research and education activities
such as research collaboration, knowledge discovery and sharing, telemedicine, and natural disaster
mitigation.
APAN meets twice each year, with working groups, BoFs, committees, plenary sessions,
and other meetings bringing together members and other interested participants to review progress,
demonstrate advances in technology and applications, and plan future activities. Each meeting is centered
on an APAN member country or region.
